It might be difficult to imagine a truly unintentional painting, let alone one that’s a photograph. For the gallery’s second AIPAD exhibition, Elizabeth Houston will be presenting the works of Aaron Siskind, in addition to the photographs of Melanie Willhide. Embodying movement and rhythm within the frame, both photographers actively challenged the visual norms of their era, creating work that continues to stand outside the defining limits of space and time.

Examining the hierarchy between technology and the individual, Andy Mattern’s latest solo show, Average Subject / Medium Distance, repositions the practice of photography as both a medium and the object in question. A dialogue between contemporary and historic practice, Mattern’s works places the implications of technology under examination, focusing on its subsequent authority and visibility in our everyday lives.

Examining the relationship between accessible and imaginary space, Elizabeth Houston Gallery presents LIMINAL, a group show whose trilogy of works expose time and space beyond initial availability. Working across diverse mediums, each artist redefines the limits of reality and the constraints of perception. Challenging our collective consciousness, LIMINAL provides an alternative translation of our environment. Disrupting and affirming our reliance on visual perception, each work offers an alternate framework to reimagine our own limits, understanding, and perception….
